  Progressive Tasting:  Weekend in Italy

Flavors From Afar and Molto Formaggio invite you to "A Weekend in Italy", a progressive tasting party with gift bags and "souvenirs" to take home with you from each store.  It takes place on Mother's Day weekend, May 8-10, and if you can't get to Italy this year, it's the next best thing.  You'll try wines paired with cheese, appetizers, and sweets, then get a little "do-it-yourself" package that extends the Italian Experience to your home.  For more information, read the details that follow.  Then call 214.696.2327 or email sales@flavorsfromafar.com to sign up for the journey!


Inspired by the two stores’ owners recent visit to Tuscany as guests of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas, the tasting and gift bag from each store include the following: 
Flavors From Afar
Onsite Tasting:  Antipasti platter and Sweet Finale plate paired with samples of wines we’ve just discovered from Italy. The plates include sweets and savories from ten of the store’s favorite items.
Gift Bag:  Includes ¾ liter of Tuscan olive oil, Fresh Tomato Sauce from Puglia, Flavors From Afar Pizza Dough, Pistachio-Chocolate Crunch Cookies from Sicily, and Sulmona Almonds.  Recipes and pairing suggestions provided.

Onsite Tasting:  Try a variety of Italian cheeses from a sample platter for two people.  Learn about the origin of the cheeses, and sample wines that pair deliciously with them.
Gift Bag:  Take home a beautiful bottle of Tuscan wine and two half-pound pieces of Italian cheese. Also enjoy a lovely Italian chocolate and sample a traditional amaretto cookie.


The price for the progressive tasting (for 2 people) is $100, which includes a gift bag and tastings at both locations:  Flavors from Afar in Snider Plaza and Molto Formaggio in Highland Park Village.  The total retail value of the two gift bags alone totals $100. The interaction and knowledge gained at the onsite tastings and pairings are, of course, priceless. 

For Reservations:

1.  Call or email Flavors From Afar (214.696.2327 or sales@flavorsfromafar.com) to reserve your gift bags and progressive tasting for two at Molto Formaggio and Flavors From Afar.  Payment of $100 must be made in advance.
2.  Specify the day you will attend the progressive tasting:

            Friday May 8 from 3-7pm
            Saturday May 9 from 10-7pm
            Sunday May 10 from 11-5pm
3.  You will receive email confirmation of your payment.  Bring the email as your ticket for the tasting.
4.  On the day of your choice, enjoy your progressive tasting!  You will visit each store to receive your complimentary tasting and gift bag.

Schedule a Private Tasting Party

We love to do focused olive oil and balsamic vinegar tastings for friends.  Pick ten of your favorites, click here to sign up, and we'll get going!  To watch a video capturing the highlights of the balsamic vinegar tasting, click here.

What:  We’ll talk about the art of tasting olive oils and Balsamics (similar to a wine tasting technique).  Then we’ll sample olive oils from Tuscany, France, and Greece.  Our Balsamic lineup is aged from 3 – 30 years.  See if you can visualize (or taste-ize) a fine balsamic on some ice cream or fresh fruit. When:  Any evening Mon-Sat after 6pm.  The events usually last 1-1 ½ hours, and then folks often retire to a nice dinner in Snider Plaza.
